Saying ‘YES’ at the edge of the Unknown

Global Women in Leadership Network’s first international cycling effort became an event as:

unknown2

  • 5 Rwandan women cyclists
  • 2 Congolese women cyclists
  • 3 American women cyclists

cycled 40+ miles for six hours in Rwanda’s land of 1000 hills August 2013. We were women of different ‘tribes’ cycling together FOR women . . . cycling for solar lights for rape warfare survivors in the Congo.

WE DID IT!

In the midst of Congo’s war zone, we were given a four day window of time to cross the border and go into the Congo.

We hosted two “Listen to My Life” gatherings with 15 trained women counselors who work with rape warfare survivors.

We tackled the third fistula ward at HEAL AFRICA’s
hospital in Goma, Demoractic Republic of the Congo with what we call an EXTREME MAKEOVER.

unknown4

As UN trucks, tanks, airplanes and soldiers streamed across the border preparing for battle, banks closed, businesses closed, and Goma’s airport closed. We knew we needed to leave before the border closed.

WE WILL RETURN

October 2014

unknown5As we say ‘YES’ at the edge of each day’s UNknown

  • Lives are touched
  • Destinies are altered
  • Hope is restored

Rwanda and the Congo have become one of Global Women in Leadership Network’s classrooms . . . the landscape for transformational change.

For all that has been
Thanks!
For all that shall be
‘YES’!
