Trips for Transformation – KENYA 2022
When: July 9-22, 2022
Where: Kenya, Africa
What: This holy adventure begins with a choice and courage and those of you who partner with me encouraging me to continue to be a ‘sent one’. I know that we are neither ‘accidental nor incidental‘ to the story that is being lived. I wanted to send this your way so you would get a sense of TIRZAH’s ministry and who we are partnering with globally. One of my colleagues in Global Women in Leadership Network , Dr. Anita Schamber, has been a strategic writer of TIRZAH’s ‘When Women Rise Emerging Leadership Development Program’. I will have the opportunity to see how these modules are being used. I have also become active in TIRZAH’s ‘Sister to Sister Sponsorship Program’ and will have the opportunity to visit with my new sister, Agnes.

HOLD DRC — holddrc.org
(Humanitarian Organization for Lasting Development)
We all know the difference between managing a problem and ending a problem. HOLD is ending a problem in Congo.
The targeted people group at HOLD are the most vulnerable girls, teen moms, and abandoned mothers and their little ones who are wanting ‘a second chance’. 1300 young women have graduated from HOLD’s eight month training program. The teen moms that come are placed in a cohort of like-minded women where life skills are taught such as hygiene, nutrition and governance issues. The young women can choose a vocational training track that includes literacy, professional cleaning, culinary arts, tailoring or becoming an esthetician. 500 women are standing in line with their little ones hoping to be accepted into the next cohort!
When a teen mom comes to HOLD she becomes immersed in a nurturing environment. God is a God who heals the brokenhearted. While scars may mark us they do not have to make us who we are for life. In the Christ centered environment at HOLD, teen moms are given the opportunity to change the narrative of their story. The eight month training at HOLD is life-giving. It changes the landscape of their lives making a peace-full future for Congo possible.
Africa New Day — AfricaNewDay.org
Africa New Day – Culture matters. The rules of social interactions vary widely between cultures. In 1960 Anastasia had to flee for her life from the Belgian Congo. Her parents had been missionaries in Congo for years. Life in Africa ended for her family when the Congolese wanted their independence from Belgian rule. Over the past fifty years the Congo has been shadowed by atrocity, brutal torture, rape, hunger and disease. What is GOOD NEWS is that a new Congolese culture is emerging. Africa New Day is changing the culture of Congolese men!
For years, the root of the cultural problem became a lie, a counterfeit narrative believing the false idea that violence against women is acceptable behavior.
Africa New Day began working with one Congolese man. Through a 16 week Bible-based mentorship program promoting leadership skills, self identity, positive masculinity and respect for women and children, 40,000 Congolese men’s lives have been transformed from being perpetrators of women to becoming protectors of women!
