Meet Agnes

Closeup of Agnes.

Agnes is one young emerging woman leader who lives in the Kibera slums of Nairobi. Her home is literally a ‘box’ . . . she has four little children. She has to pay 10 shillings just to use the community bathroom! Another ten shillings to be able to use the community shower. Her mother recently died. She is being cared for by the $100 a month that YOU are helping me to send her on a monthly basis. That $100 provides food for her family,  funds one year of coaching and mentorship for Agnes, provides her children with the needed school fees and enrolls Agnes in a year’s worth of micro-enterprise training!

Having been involved for years with women’s issues globally I have at times shared the Him-pact on my life the day I came to the hospital at HEAL AFRICA and saw thirteen women pile out of a van. They were all like dead women walking ALL having been raped,  tortured, abused. As we worked doing an extreme make-over of the fistula ward at the hospital I saw this particular woman’s bed . . .    she was in a safe place

but she felt like she needed her ‘weapon’ just in case!

Machete that was hidden under a mattress at the shelter by a woman in crisis.
